Chunkapura is one of the best varieties of Koozhachaka (Soft Varikka) available in Kerala right now. Its pulp is extremely soft and perfectly sweet. The taste of its broth-filled pulp is one of a kind. Unlike regular porridges, the pulp is very low in fiber. So it can be eaten easily. Great for roasting, simmering, and all sorts of uses.
It is found in the collection of an ancient family of Chungappura at Pala in the Kottayam district. It is also good for making value-added products like jam, jelly, ice cream, and pulp from jackfruit.
