Thippili is a small shrub with a large woody root and numerous creeping, jointed stems that are thickened at the nodes. piper longum(Thippili) is a slender, perennial, aromatic, and medicinal climber with woody roots growing to a height of 90 – 120 cm.
The plant is used for ornamental purpose. The plant yields for 4 to 5 years. Its roots are sought after in Ayurveda. It is believed they help in relieving body pain, arthritic pain, cold and cough.
