Araticum, is a member of the Annonaceae family found in the Brazilian Cerrado. Its fruits reach over 15 cm in diameter and 2 kg, containing many seeds about 1.5 cm long. The flowers of a Araticum look like jellyfish wearing hats, and the fruits are sweet and very rough.
In folk medicine, it is believed that a tea made from the seeds of this fruit can treat rheumatism and problems in the intestines and stomach.
Red Araticum is a rare, fast-growing, deciduous tree with a rounded or spreading crown native to semi-deciduous forests of Brazil.
