Pune red fig -bell-shaped, of medium size, weighing about 1 1/2 oz (42 g); thin-skinned; light-purple with red flesh, of sweet, good flavor.
The fig is a tree of small dimensions, 10 to 30 ft high, with numerous spreading branches and a trunk. It contains copious milky latex.
Believed to be indigenous to Western Asia and to have been distributed by man throughout the Mediterranean area. It has been cultivated for thousands of years.
