Kottukonam / Kotturkonam Mango, very much local to the Southern part of Trivandrum, received the name as a legacy after the name of the place, Kotturkonam, bordering Tamilnadu where it originated. Highly popular in Trivandrum district, it is grown in Kollam and Kanyakumari districts as well in large numbers. It is highly disease resistant. Consumed raw, the flesh has a unique flavor and scent and the thick skin shares the reddish orange colour of the flesh when ripe.
CHARACTERISTICS
- Fruit is reddish-orange on the inside and outside when ripe, and high in fiber, but once eaten, the taste, aroma, and flavor remain on the tongue.
- Fruiting takes 2-3 Years, It is highly disease resistant.
